Not only does your diet affect your waistline but it also can affect your vision. Fruits and Vegies have so many vitamins and fatty acids that can reduce the risk of so many different eye diseases. So why not make that new years resolution to eat healthier. There are so many benefits. Here are some tips... 1. Have differet menu options available. There are many recipies where you can subsittue different vegetables and fruits in and no one will even notice a difference. For Example: Cauliflower Steam a head of cauliflower and mince it in the food processor until it has consistency of your typical mashed potatoes. Add a little bit of garlic or salt to spice them up. Cauliflower is a great source of vitamin C and your good ol' omega-3s. Both have been found to be linked to proper visual development. 2. Think color Fill your plate with a variety of colors. Orange, Yellow, Red, and Dark leafy greens like kale, spinach and collards. Leafy greens have lutein which is key for good macular function. 3. Change it up Try something different for dinner instead of your typical chicken give fish a try. Salmon is loaded with eye-rich nutrients, including zinc and omega-3s. Zinc plays an key role in bringing vitamin A from the liver to the retina in order to produce melanin, which protects your eyes. Good nutrition can play a big part in having healthy vision but don't forget to have your regular eye exams to make sure your vision is as good as it can be. Can you believe that 2016 is almost over!
